Designer ready-to-wear label Szabo Sihag was established by Meghna Sihag and Krisztian Szabo in 2019. It is a India and London based clothing brand.

Szabo Sihag is the infusion of Indian heritage with contemporary fashion. Each piece is carefully crafted, combining playful elements with a refined aesthetic, offering a fresh take on India’s diverse traditions.

At Szabo Sihag, sustainability is at the core of our ethos. By up cycling dead-stock denim and using hand-spun Khadi cotton from village artisans, we reduce waste and promote eco-friendly practices. Our focus on quality, longevity, and responsible fashion supports both environmental preservation and cultural heritage.

We work with small-scale manufacturers in India, allowing us to create high-quality garments while supporting local communities.

Our Story

Unused Odhani

In state of Rajasthan and Haryana, India there is a tradition of gifting unstitched fabrics with odhanis— which are hand tie-dyed—passed down through generations. These unused odhanis often accumulate in households, remaining untouched for years. To prevent this waste, we’ve decided to repurpose them in our collection, giving new life to these beautifully crafted fabrics. By incorporating hand tie-dyed odhanis that would otherwise go unused, we not only honor tradition but also embrace sustainability. This approach reduces waste, supports responsible fashion, and preserves cultural heritage, transforming forgotten pieces into unique, meaningful garments.

Empower and Elevate Local Communities

We believe in honouring indigenous artisanal traditions and craftsmanship by taking purposeful steps within our community.

We use hand-spun Khadi cotton from village artisans, ensuring environmentally conscious materials that support sustainable livelihoods. As industrialization threatens these crafts, our work helps preserve both the tradition and the livelihoods of artisans.

By partnering with small-scale manufacturers in India, we strengthen local economies, provide fair wages, and promote skill development. Our ethical production processes foster sustainable growth and create a lasting positive impact on the communities we serve.

Design

Szabo Sihag is centred by nostalgia, reimagined to address the needs of modern living. By prioritizing conscious editing, we refine our choices to prioritize sustainability, cultural awareness, and purposeful design.

This emphasis on what is fundamental results in designs and experiences that are inclusive, playful, and impactful. Traditional silhouettes and locally crafted elements form the foundation of our surface design, ensuring a deep connection to heritage while incorporating modern sensibilities.

Production

All our production is done locally in India, where we collaborate with numerous small-scale production units and family-owned businesses across the country. We use a wide range of handcrafted fabrics and techniques, with nearly 90% of the materials being locally sourced.
